By default all the screenshots you take on Mac are saved on desktop, it can be useful for some but most of the users find it annoying as the desktop looks ugly. The good news is that you can change the default save location of the screenshots to any folder of your choice. This way you can have a dedicated folder for screenshots so that you can manage them easily.

Once screenshots are captured, they are stored in a default location in your MacBook. Apparently, on the desktop. This location can be quite cluttered, firstly because the desktop is the face of the Mac and secondly the screenshot will appear disorganized. OS X saves each screenshot with the name 'Screen shot date at time.' As an example, a screenshot taken on Friday, March 1, at 9:29 PM will be saved as 'Screen shot 2013–03–01 at 9:29 PM.' You cannot remove the date and time from the name but you can easily change 'Screen shot' to something else. Well, i had this problem also. The default folder where screenshots are saved is in Desktop. Whenever i try to screencap using command+shift+3 it prompts, 'Your screen shot can't be saved. You do not have permission to save files in the location where screen shots are stored.' What i did is i checked my Desktop folder is locked.
How to choose a save location for screenshots and screen recordings on Mac. Although you can choose from a limited set of locations to save your screenshots and recordings after you make them, you can also pre-select a destination beforehand. Press Command + Shift + 5 on your keyboard to bring up the screenshot toolbar.

- Open Terminal by pressing Command + Space, type terminal and hit enter.
- Type the following command and hit enter.

Note: Change the screenshot destination from ~/Documents/TheMacBeginner/Images to your preferred screenshot folder in the above command. For example, if you want your screenshots to be stored in documents folder then the command would be: Apple safari browser download for windows 8. Photoshop elements 201.
That's it. You can verify the change by taking a screenshot. Just press Command + Shift + 3 and then check your folder that you have specified in the above command.
Reverting back to original location
If at some point you feel that the desktop location was much better place for saving screenshots then you can revert back to the original state by typing following command in terminal.
